STONE       CHIMP

Stone Chimp came to form in 2010 with a bunch of friends who have played in various local bands over the years , so when they started jamming they decided to come together with the idea of creating a new sounding music, combining various influences, late nights, vodka and a 70's style porno mansion in the kenmore bush, the guys self recorded, produced, and funded their album, which was mixed by Marcello Milani of Brisbane and Aussie legends, the toothfaeries.

 

The music has been described as an eclectic mix of well thought out songs, too hard to categorize in one genre, sounding as different as David Bowie to System Of A Down on some tracks, the often haunting and daunting samples used in some tracks give the songs a totally original feel and sound. Live is where Stone Chimp truly destroy, with front man Jon taking the reigns and the audience on one wild musical ride! with a number of live shows under the belts at venues around Brisbane such as the Hi Fi, The Zoo, and The Tempo hotel, The Beetle Bar and RICS. The band is really coming into their own with high energy live sets and a musical tightness that comes from years of playing together.
